Samuel Is Running

A multi-pov literary novel SAMUEL IS RUNNING (80,000 words). Samuel Williams, husband and father of two, suffers a mid-life crisis when his ex writes a bestseller that, he believes, is about him. SAMUEL IS RUNNING mixes the plot-driven introspective style of THE BEE STING by Paul Murray with the romantic bent of FREE LOVE by Tessa Hadley. As a coming-of-age story for midlife, SAMUEL IS RUNNING explores parenting after trauma, open marriage, and the messy struggle to redefine the rules of life. But at its core, it is a love story where the two people falling in love just happen to be husband and wife. Contact for full Query, synopsis and first chapter.

Join a class or workshop this Spring in Arlington or Lexington

Jane Austen Reading Group

(Arlington) Celebrate the enduring brilliance of literary icon Jane Austen as we mark the 250th anniversary of her birth. Together, we’ll dive into the worlds of Sense & Sensibility and Mansfield Park, meet unforgettable characters, and explore the themes that continue to resonate today. We’ll also discover Austen’s life in the Georgian era and how her times shaped the stories we still love.

Reading Hemingway

(Lexington) Celebrate the enduring resonance of literary icon Ernest Hemingway as we dig into two of his most famous works—A Farewell to Arms and The Old Man and the Sea. Together we’ll explore the theatrical and often sparse worlds and discuss the man himself, whose own life was often more drama-filled than his novels. Students should come to the first class having read up to Chapter 6 of A Farewell to Arms
